We love nettles!
We collect young nettle tops locally, early in the spring, just taking the top six or so leaves and drying them so that we can use them throughout the year.
The oatmeal is produced at Y Felin (Welsh for ‘The Mill’), at St Dogmaels, one of the last working water mills in Wales.
Nettle (Urtica dioica) is a fantastic herb with many uses – including food, clothing and skincare products. They are so under-used by us. This fantastic wild herb contains so much goodness that it has many uses including food, clothing and skincare products.
Nettles are said to encourage hair growth and can be added to hair wraps.
It is used in bath soaks, body wraps, facials, soaps and salves.
Oatmeal (Avena sativa) has been documented for its use in skincare as far back as 2000 BC as it contains saponins which have intense cleansing properties.
It contains both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and is ideal for sensitive skin, helping to relieve itchy and uncomfortable conditions. Studies have revealed that the beta glucan contained in rolled oats can control bacterial infections in the body.
